Root Canal Treatment

Endodontics deals with a disease of the tooth, including the root, dental pulp and surrounding tissue.; this can cause an acute or chronic, painful infection.

Root canal treatment can be required from the following:

  • Extreme wear
  • Dental decay
  • Dental trauma
  • Serve gum disease
  • A tooth that has received extensive dental work

Root canal therapy is commonly used to treat endodontic infection, this way the patent can keep the tooth while finding relief from painful side-affects.

Teeth are comprised of a hard-outer layer (Enamel & Dentine), which surround and protect the soft living dental pulp (nerve). The pulp can become infected from such things as dental decay, trauma, extreme gum disease, crack, chip or breakdown of the tooth, as the tooth has a limited ability to fix itself it can become diseased.

Root canal is preformed over multiple appointments and a temporary filling will be placed on the tooth between each appointment.
The fee for endodontic treatment is determined by each individuals’ requirements. All patients will receive a detailed treatment plan and estimate of fees prior to treatment proceeding.
Once root canal treatment has been completed your dentist may recommend placing a dental crown over the root canaled tooth to protect tooth long term.
